My Elk and Ekeypad Pro. what happened?
Posted by jaketaft76 on 07/03/2009 12:06 AM

I just bought the Ekeypad Pro for the Iphone. it allows me to control my elk via the phone. When i first got it (3days ago) i got it configured with my M1 and my M1XEP and it worked great. I had total control of lights, outputs and alarm system. then we had a power outage/surge(yesturday) and it hasnt worked the same sense. I can still control things via the software but what I have lost is anything te4lling me the current state of the system. I can still connect to my Elk via the M1XEP and Elk RP. I have tried rebooting and turning everythign off and on agian. I have even reinstalled the software (Ekeypad). I feel like the power outage did some minor damage to ether the M1 or the XEP but i cant tell. Is there something i can check to make sure that the Elk panel is sending current state? i have the "Show" X'ed on all the lights and zones and such. it just dosent ever update like it used to. One other thing. When i had it all working correctly the IP address of the M1XEP was then when the power went out i couldnt connect back to the M1XEP through RP. so i did some crap (cant remember) but when i searched for the M1XEP it had changed its IP address to ...102 not 104. so i made the same changes on the software but now all the problems. Im using a router and such and so i have it set to DHCP. im not a newtwork guy so not sure if any of this makes sense. All i know is now that the IP address fo the M1XEP ends in 102 im not gettng the same info to my Phone. Anyway there it is.

I have the eKeypad Plus. I'd suggest contacting the author Jayson-- he's awesome with support and I'm sure he'll help you figure it out quickly. Since you are using a router, you might make sure that you are routing to the new address of your XEP.

Turns out the mistake was stupid on my part. when i configured my RP i never saved it. And so when the power went out all the Global Transmit settings had been reset to Null (i know stupid on my part). Anyway all i had to do was recheck those items and Shazamm! Good luck and thanks for you help.
