UPB Status Refresh
Posted by ace on 02/02/2009 04:14 PM

While I was out at EHX and talking with Kirk, we discussed the problem with using UPB links and the problem of the Elk not knowing what devices are affected when a link command is issued. For example I have a wall switched that is linked to two lamp modules, and the M1 "can't see" when I turn those lights on/off when using the switch. We talked about having the RMS software have a refresh button on the screen to force the Elk to poll all of the UPB devices to get their current status. This would also be something that should also be available as a rule feature so that the current/correct UPB status can be acted on. Also, has Elk given any consideration as to being able to provide a formal process that dealers could provide direction/recommendations to software enhancements and a possible rating system, as I don't feel that the forums are working in that regard?

This is a very annoying problem. Upstart always knows the status of the devices connected to the cumputer interfaces so, I would have expected the M1 to know it too.
