RP access code rejected
Posted by polarbear44 on 10/08/2008 11:42 PM

I am getting this message when I attempt to connect. It has been about 8 months since the last time I connected (things were basically OK), and now I need to add/change rules. I KNOW I did not change the RP access code from the default value, and the account info reflects this. If the code in the panel is in fact different, I have no idea how it got that way. Are there any other conditions that could cause this error? Is there a way to reset the RP Access code? Please help! Thanks muchly

saw a message elsewhere in cocoontech and in this forum to the effect that a bad serial cable caused a similar problem. Got a new serial cable today, with no change in the results. I have gone over all my system backups and found no evidence that the access code was ever anything but the default 246801. I am wondering if there is some other technical difficulty masquerading as the invalid passcode. does anyone have any other ideas of things to check? I am getting desperate, and humbly thank anyone who can help

I'm having the same problem, does anyone from elk monitor this board?

Which method are you trying to connect Direct using Com Port, Network or a dial up modem connection? If Direct using a Com Port make sure the Baud Rate is set to 115200 and the serial cable is a standard 9-pin straight through RS232 cable. If using a USB to RS232 converter is it the ELK-USB232?

Using RP via network. I was just about to post my other problem.. I can access the web interface at address 10.0.0.254 and log in using my web password with no problems. When I use ElkRP and I use the "find m1exp" it can't find it. When I try to connect it says "connected" then it says "system rejected remote programming access code" I never changed the default access code How about FTP, I saw on the board that I can login via FTP, what is the default userid/password for ftp?

On the Account Detail Screen double check to make sure the Port is 2601. What is the make and model of the router? Power down the ELK-M1 and the ELK-M1XEP wait about 10-seconds ---- power up the M1 first wait about 5-seconds and then the M1XEP. Next wait for the M1XEP to finish rebooting then try the "Find". If the M1XEP is found highlight the address and click Use Selected. Try to connect.

I'll try that, I've tried many times before but perhaps I had the sequence off. I'm using an apple airport extreme n router

Is it possible for the router to assign 192.168.1.xxx addresses?

Yes, I can put in another router, what is the solution if I do that?

At this time ELK has heard reports of compatibility issues with the Apple router and ELK's Engineering Dept plans to evaluate this report in the near future. We'll post back what we find out.

I'm having similar issues. Have you found a solution to this problem yet? I can log on via the web interface to arm/disarm the system. I am trying to connect via the network option. I don't have an apple router, I have a netopia router. I have tried connecting via the 2101 and 2601 ports. I've recreated accounts to connect. I've tried about everything that I know of and I still the the error message that RP access code is rejected. My installer came out and took out a board and sent it back to ELK last week. I just got it hooked up again and I still get the same thing. I'll go get a serial card tomorrow and see if I can hook up directly to the M1. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

If you connect you computer to the Elk M1XEP via a crossover cable you could rule out the router being an issue or not.

I'm having the same problem with the new installation I am doing. I have been able to see the M1 from my Browser but when I try to connect using RP it contacts the M1 and then gives me the RP access code rejected dialog. I have also used a direct RS232 connection and I get exactly the same behavior. The ElkRP software can find the M1XEP but can't connect to the M1 itself. It seems like this is a common problem given this thread. Any ideas?

I'm still having issues. I installed the new RP software and now I can see the M1G when I use the Find function but access code is still rejected. Still using an apple router, any update?

The RP Access Code can Only be changed while connected to the system with ELK-RP. The Default RP Access Code is 246801 or you can try some of the commonly mistaken RP Access Codes 246801, 246810, 172839, 003456, 123456, 000000.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Connected just fine with default RP Access Code a few months back, configured the system, set up email events on entry/exit. Then in May email events stopped working. Went in recently to see what's up and now I get "System rejected the Remote Programming Access Code". I'm accessing over the network. I tried the restart procedure given below, but with no luck. Has anyone had any luck fixing this?
