Weather Links
Posted by droland on 01/28/2008 01:16 PM

How do I add a weather link that will show up inside the RM? I've tried several variations including weatherbonk.com, but none of them seem to work and I'm sure I'm just doing it wrong.

The map that is on weatherbonk.com seems to be a custom map that requires a special add in to run it. The maps need to be images (bmp, jpg, gif, png) in order for them to work. I did notice some cameras on the page that were our local schools. If you would like to use on of these: Right click on the image and go to "Properties" In the window that pops up, you will see the "Location:" of the image. Copy this URL. Create a new camera in the RM_Setup utility. Set the camera type to "CUSTOM". Name the camera what you please. Paste the copied link above into the "IP ADDRESS/URL:" text box. Set the "Camera stream type" to "Image Capture". I would set the "Update interval" to Every Minute or 5 minutes. Send this information out, and you should be able to view these cameras. Let us know how you progress! If anyone out there has found good weather updates beyond the known maps at weather.com, please let us know!

I have used http://www.wunderground.com/ as it has a mobile page that you can customize. It will give you access to regional radar and a 5-7 day forecast. Works very well.

I used this method to add a weather radar and other web pages to RM, and I get the message "Could Not Parse IP". It works perfectly on my desktop - just not on the TS07 Touch screen. I have tried a variety of different pages, and always get that same message. I can easily browse the internet with the TS07 explorer, so I know I have a good connection. Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong?
