M1KAM Diode & AC switching
Posted by cadamo on 05/24/2011 09:21 AM

Hi there. I am using a M1KAM to trigger a 12AC (AC, not DC) bolt. I don't know anything about electronics, but I do know that diodes have a polarity.... The manual for the M1KAM shows a circuit for DC bolts, and it doesn't say anything about switching AC. Is the diode still necessary when switching 12volts AC, should I use a capacitor instead of a diode, or just forget about this all together? If anything is indeed needed, I would appreciate if someone could tell me exactly what it is, so that I can go to my local electronics store and look like I know what I am ordering! :-) Thank you, Cristian.-
