M1KPAS quick arm keys stop working
Posted by gpshiker on 07/20/2010 09:11 PM

I installed a M1KPAS connected to the data bus hub of my M1G. The 1st time or 2 I press the quick arm it works as it should. After the first 1 or 2 times arming via the quick keys I can no longer quick arm using the M1KPAS. The keypad just beeps once but will not arm. If I arm via a user code, I am able to press the stay key to change to stay/stay instant mode. My other keypad (M1KP2) quick arm keys work fine. The only way I can get the quick arm keys to work is to default the panel and re-load from RP2. At which time I get a couple quick arms out of the M1KPAS before it stops working. Is this a bum keypad or is there something else wrong I can't find?

I'd love to hear an answer on this one. My system exhibits the EXACT same issue. It has all recent firmware applied as of 1/10/11. Can someone please give some insight into this? If I arm/disarm with a code the buttons (exit, stay and the F 1 thru 4) will function for a short time. If nothing has been pressed for a while it beeps when these are pressed but the M1 does not respond in any form. Help!

After updating the Firmware in the M1KPAS perform the Bus Module Enrollment and then once complete power cycle the system and retest.

The firmware is current. I've just gone and done an enrollment and then completely power cycled the system. Both of my two M1KPAS units do not respond to F keys or quickarm keys unless they have just had a code typed in. Do I need to completely delete them and then re-enroll them? What else can I do? I've never gotten to use this functionality and am now finding potential uses for the F keys as I expand my system.

Please try Defaulting the Entire Control:
Make sure your ELK-RP Account is up to date with information in the panel
Press the ELK key on the Keypad
Screen should display 1-View/Control Automation Fncts
Press the 9 key
Screen should display 9-Installation Programming
Press the Right arrow key
System should prompt you "Auth Required Enter Valid PIN" ---- 172839 Factory Default
Screen Should display 01-Bus Module Enrollment
Type 07
Screen should display 07-Global System Definitions
Press the Right Arrow Key
Screen should display G01:=x.
Type 45
Screen should display G45:DefaultCtl 81=User Codes
Press the Right Arrow Key and Type 99
This step will default the system back to Factory Settings

Once Complete perform the Bus Module Enrollment and when this is done power cycle the system. Next try disabling all zones and see if you can use the Quick Arm feature of the M1KPAS. If successful reload your account and retest.

I worked with Brad late last year and found a workaround for the quick arm. I have not configured the F key so I don't know if it would work for them as well but I would expect it does.

In the above posts it says to perform the bus module enrollment and then power cycle the system. The problem begins with the power cycle and is 'fixed' with the bus module enrollment so those steps are backwards. The bus module enrollment should be done after a power cycle of the system. Anytime I have to power down the Elk, the first thing I do after I turn it back on is the bus module enrollment and the quick arm keys have not stopped working.

I have another issue which I'm not sure if it's related to the m1kpas or not. Sometimes when I press the quick arm key, I get a delay of up to 30 seconds before I get the armed message and the exit timer starts. I have only experienced this with the m1kpas, have you seen this in your setup? I'm asking since you are the first person I've seen that has also reported the keys stop working on the m1kpas.
