Time Syncing Off
Posted by lewinsb1 on 11/20/2009 07:41 AM

I have an Elk M1 Gold when it was sycning the time previously it would end up setting the date on my system to exactly 2 days ahead (correct time, just 2 days off). I have checked that I have the proper location set on it and tried multiple ntp servers. It may work correctly for a few days but always end up being 2 days off again after a week or so. I have since shut off that function off since it was causing inaccuracies in the rules I have setup to run. Is there anything that I could be missing so that I can turn this function back on?

Was there ever a solution given for this problem. I also am seeing an issue with this.

For testing purposes please try the following time server clock1.unc.edu and let us know the results.

I set mine to the ntp server specified and it has worked fine since then. I can't say I understand why that particular time server works since I tried multiple other time servers which worked fine for other devices I have that utilize ntp servers.

Over the years I have adopted an approach that has served me well with regards to NTP. I have one server get the time from a small list of NTP servers; then all the other devices (M1G included) in the house get the time from that one server. For the Microsoft PCs in the house I use Tardis which can work both as a client and a server and runs as a service so nobody has to be logged in for it to work.
