Q: EOL RESISTORS - Will 3.3K EOL resistors work on the M1 zones when changing panels, or will they have to be replaced?

A: The correct EOL resistors for the M1 are 2.2K (2,200 Ohm). This value provides a proper range against false activation. 3.3K resistors are too close to the high edge and must be replaced with 2.2K resistors when changing panels.

Q: KEYPAD - Are there any plans to offer another style keypad?

A: At this time there is no active design work underway. However, there have been discussion about a flush mount LCD and/or a small, simple arming station.

Q: MODEMS - What brands of dial-up modems are compatible with the ELK-RP Remote Programming Software? What about broadband connections such as Cable or DSL?

A: Because the M1 has a true modem built on-board, virtually any computer dial-up modem is compatible. High speed broadband modems like Cable, DSL, or T1 will work with ELK's soon to be released ELK-M1XEP Ethernet adapter port expected in Q3 of 2004.

Q: Can a temperature sensor cause an email to be sent when a setpoint is hi?

A: Yes. By the addition of the M1XEP Ethernet Interface it is possible to write rules to send emails based on certain criteria.

Q: Do I have to know any programming languages to create the rules?

A: No. Rules are actually assembled from a list of variables that are displayed for you. Simply point and click to the "Trigger" then click on the action to be taken. You'll find this is easy and actually fun to use.
